How Long Does It Take to Get Makeup Done Professionally?

Getting your makeup done by a professional makeup artist is something that everyone should experience once! It is amazing what they can do and you learn a lot about their routine.

First I want you to know that I’m specialized in wedding makeup. I find it really fun to make brides look awesome on the day they’re going to say “I do”! It has something magical! How long I need to do the makeup properly?

The makeup application that I do is almost always scheduled for an hour. Depending on what the bride wants it may take less time than that or it takes a couple of minutes longer. But, on average there should be 1 hour per person that I need to apply makeup to so that I can ensure proper application with no rush or hurry.

Normally I take about 1 hour to 1 hour and a half for each client.

Although, I have to say that this depends greatly on what the customer wants. A couple of weeks ago I had a girl who wanted to look pretty for a school dance and it took me about half an hour to get the look that she wanted.

That’s why I always say that it is important to talk to your clients beforehand about what they want so that you can make a time estimate.

But, generally, I get booked for about an hour to an hour and a half to do makeup. This can vary from wedding makeup all the way to a girls’ night out where they just all want to go all out that night!

Weddings, weddings, weddings! That’s what I love to do and am good at. Now, as per your question, I think it depends on what the bride wants, but often this is nothing crazy and it should take approximately 60 to 90 minutes on the day of the wedding to get it done.

Now as I said, this can vary based on the style you have your heart set on, but most of the time with a max of 90 minutes there’s plenty of time to make you as beautiful as possible on your big day!

How long does it take to do a full face of makeup?

Now you have a little more insight from 3 different makeup artists. It’s fun to see that almost all of their answers are quite the same. They need about 60 to a maximum of 90 minutes to get your makeup done professionally and in a way that you’ve always dreamed of!

The fun thing for me was to hear that sometimes a group of girls will also hire a makeup artist just to go out that night! That sounds fun and is something I’m going to plan for the next group gathering with my friends! I just know they’ll love it!

When you get your makeup done professionally do you bring your own?

You probably have your own mega stash of makeup products that you love to use every day, but fortunately, you don’t have to bring your own when a makeup artist comes to your house or you go to their salon.
