Best ways to get the vomit out of your hair

Luckily there are lots of things that you can do to get the smell out of your hair. Below you’ll find the 8 best ways to get the smell of vomit out of your hair quickly.

#1 – Shampoo
You might’ve guessed it because for most people this is the first thing that comes to mind. When you’ve vomited in your hair, you must shampoo your hair as fast as possible. The longer the vomit stays in your hair, the more pervasive the odor will become in your hair.

Sometimes washing your hair 1 time isn’t enough to get the smell out. If that is the case you should continue and reapply shampoo into your hair and rinse it out. Repeat this 2 to 3 times (until the smell is gone).

Which shampoos to use?
If you have a lot of choice at home, the best shampoos you can use are peppermint or tea tree shampoo. Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle should really do the trick cause I only hear nice things about it!

#2 – Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is not only to break your intermittent fasting with… It is also a great way to remove the vomit smell out of your hair. For the longest time, Apply Cider Vinegar is used as a substitute for shampoo and for getting unwanted odors out of your hair. Mix the vinegar with shampoo in a 1:1 ratio and apply it to your hair. After that, you should shampoo and condition normally. This would be enough to get the vomit smell out of your hair.

#3 – Lemon juice to get vomit out of your hair
Lemon juice is a great way to remove the smell and it is also quite simple to do. Moisten your hair with lemon juice, and let it sit in your hair for a minimum of 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes are up, you should go and wash your hair to remove any lemon juice that is still in your hair. This should remove the smell!

PRO TIP: The one thing that you need to know with this method, is that you need to keep yourself away from sunlight! If you moisten your hair with lemon juice and are in sunlight, you get unwanted bleaching of the follicles (so you get lighter hair).

#4 – Baking soda is your friend
Baking soda is great for making things clean! It has been used for centuries and that is not without reason. It just works for all sorts of things! Mix water and baking soda in a 1:1 ratio. When you do that you get a kind of shampoo like paste that you can use in the shower. Make sure you get your hands on every last hair and then rinse it out gently. This should remove the smell of puke in your hair!

#5 – Baking soda & ACV
Combine two of the ways explained here and you should be golden, right!? That’s exactly right!
Make use of baking soda and Apple Cider Vinegar to get rid of the puke smell.

Here’s what you should do:
Mix 3 tablespoons with 3 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar and one cup of water. Put it in your hair and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then condition as you would normally do.

It works wonders and it is also a great clarifying solution!

PRO TIP: You should put the mixture in your hair AFTER you’ve shampooed your hair.

#6 – Just rinse your hair
If you have nothing of the above in your house, you should just rinse your hair as soon as possible. Washing the bits and pieces out of your hair will do a lot. Also, if you rinse soon after the vomiting, most of the residue will wash away and the smell will be way less than before.

#7 – Vodka
Did you know that vodka is not only the solution if you want to get very drunk? It is also the solution for getting the puke smell out of your hair! This drink has been used for ages to neutralize odor. This is what you should do:

Get your hands wet with the vodka and put your hands through your hair where the vomit was in your hair. When the vodka dries up, you’ll notice that much of the stink also goes away.

#8 – Oranges and Limes
Both of these products will work well for you. Although it needs to be said that lemon juice (as described earlier) is the better way to go.

Just as with the lemon juice, you need to squeeze the juice into your hair and wait for about 30 minutes before you wash it out. This will get rid of the smell of puke!

#9 – Febreze is a breeze
I have to admit that I never heard of this one! Febreze works wonders when you want to get the odor of vomit out of your hair. This can be great if you’re somewhere other than your home and have no access to the above things.

This is what you should do:
Make your hair wet (rinse your hair), let your hair dry in the air, and when your hair dries, you need to spray it with Febreze. This will get rid of the smell. Make sure that when you get home, you jump in the shower and wash everything off.

Final thoughts

So, how do you get the smell of vomit out of your hair? By using one of the 9 above methods! There are a lot of options and it depends on what you have in your home to see which solutions work great for you.

With this kind of thing, it is smart to move quickly. So if you do not have lemons at home, it might not be a good idea to first go to the supermarket to get some lemons… No, go for shampooing your hair or something like that. The faster you are, the less the vomit penetrates your hair follicle and the less time the vomit has to leave an unpleasant smell in your hair.
